The 2011 Quilt Block Challenge!

2011 the first time we’ve done this and we are excited to invite anyone, of any age, to participate in our NEW Quilt Block Challenge! Basically, you bring in a piece of material (in our theme) to contribute to a quilt that will be put together and auctioned off at next years event! All proceeds going to the charities our Festival supports and local Community improvements! Just think how far your small contribution of a lovely piece of textile can go in the bigger picture of it all…. Or should we say… in the bigger Quilt of it all!

This year’s theme is:

“As Red as a Ripe Strawberry!”

And that’s not all … We have  prizes!

1st Prize: $25.00       2nd Prize: $10.00      

For each of the following Categories:

  • Best Appliqued Block

  • Best Pieced Block   

  • Best Block Depicting this Year’s Theme


Okay then, here are the rules:

  1. The fabric supplied to you, must be used as your background fabric for your  block. You may use additional fabrics to complete your block.
  2. All fabric must be 100% cotton and please prewash all fabric.
  3. Your block must measure 10 ½” x 10 ½”. This includes a ¼” seam allowance that will be used to finish the block.
  4. The fabric kit supplied to you costs $2.00 and is your entry fee.
  5. Completed blocks must be received by the committee by Tuesday, June 14th.
  6. All blocks submitted become the property of the St. Agatha Strawberry Fest Committee to be used at their discretion for a raffle of a finished quilt or quilted item(s) to be held at the 2012 Strawberry Fest.
  7. On the day of the 2011 Strawberry Fest, June 18th, all blocks will be displayed and the public will be asked to vote for “Viewer’s Choice”. A prize will be awarded to the block chosen by the most votes on the day of the fest.
  8. Blocks should represent the theme for this year’s quilt block challenge: “As Red as a Ripe Strawberry”.
